Learning objectives
The Degree Course aims to enable the student, over the course of six years, to come to know and understand the causes and mechanisms underlying the main congenital and acquired pathologies and anomalies not only of the teeth, but also of the entire oral cavity, the jaw bones, and the temporomandibular joints. Acquiring knowledge and understanding of these elements will enable the student to plan appropriate and specific treatment for each patient.
The curriculum provides for 360 ECTS credits over the six years and, as a rule, 60 ECTS credits per year. The ECTS credit corresponds to 25 hours of average effort per student and consists of classes, clinical exercises, internships and individual study.
In its general aspects, the two-year course is geared towards the study of basic educational activities, aimed at acquainting students with the fundamentals of the structural organisation and vital functions of the human body and is organised in courses that address issues related to the doctor-patient relationship and the understanding of the principles underlying scientific methodology.
In the following years, the student will devote himself mainly to the study of disciplines of medical, surgical and specialist interest with reference to clinical problems related to odontostomatological pathologies. Starting from the third year, lessons will be complemented by internships to enable the student to acquire specific clinical skills in the individual dental disciplines.
The sixth year, in particular, is almost entirely dedicated to professionalising didactic activity aimed at treating patients with multidisciplinary odontostomatological problems. The planned frontal-seminar teaching is aimed at interdisciplinary discussion of assigned clinical cases.
