Integrated course unit module: HEALTH LAW AND DEONTOLOGICAL ETHICS

Learning objectives

The course aims to provide the student with the basis for understanding the concepts of risk and risk factors for human health in light of the safety and risk prevention legislation for workers, providing the essential elements for the measures to be taken in relation to the specific risks covered.
The aim of the course is to promote the ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the identification of risk conditions related to chemical, physical and biological agents specifically derived from the future profession.

Course unit content

The course aims to address the issues necessary to know the causal links between exposure to risk agents and the appearance of occupational diseases.
The main health prevention and protection tools for specific work risks will be considered, with particular reference to the health sector.
The course provides basic knowledge of existing legislation on safety, health and protection in the workplace.

Full programme

Introduction to Occupational Medicine and general concepts.
Historical overviews of the birth and evolution of occupational medicine.
The current legislation on the protection of safety and health in the workplace.
Classification of employment risk factors with particular reference to health.
Physical risk.
Chemical risk.
Biological risk.
Stress-related work.

Teaching methods

Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Teams or Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam will be oral preceded by a written test.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
